The Freedom 55 Financial Championship returns to Highland Country Club in 2017
The Freedom 55 Financial Championship is Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada’s flagship event. The season-ending tournament will feature the Top 60 players from the Order of Merit.
The Freedom 55 Financial Championship is the penultimate tournament on the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada, where the Top 60 players will compete for the tournament title and a chance to earn Web.com Tour status for the following season.
At the conclusion of the Freedom 55 Financial Championship, Web.com Tour status will be awarded to the Top 5 players on the Order of Merit. Last year’s champion, Paul Barjon, from New Caledonia shot a third-round 61 en route to his first victory of the year, which shot him up the ranks to finish 6th on the Order or Merit. Capping off a record-breaking season with four wins in 11 starts, Dan McCarthy was awarded Player of the Year honours following the Freedom 55 Financial Championship.
Freedom 55 Financial is proud to support Canadian golfers chasing their dream of playing on the PGA TOUR. Following play on Sunday, the Dan Halldorson Trophy for the Freedom 55 Financial Canadian Player of the Year Award, along with a $25,000 bonus, will be presented to the top Canadian on the Order of Merit.
The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada is a series of tournaments played across Canada, where tomorrow’s stars begin the path to the PGA TOUR. The leading five money winners at the end of each season earn status on the Web.com Tour for the following season, and Tour’s alumni include 10 PGA TOUR players and 66 Web.com Tour players since 2013. The Mackenzie Tour’s mission is to deliver a PGA TOUR experience for our members, fans, volunteers and partners in order to develop the future stars of professional golf and enrich the communities we visit.
Highland Country Club hosts this year’s event for the third consecutive year, and the players will be in for a great test of golf.
